Conte 'committed' to Chelsea, but…

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has blasted his teammates over their final day 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United, suggesting "everyone" had one eye on the FA Cup final next Saturday.

Antonio Conte insists the FA Cup final will not be his final game in charge of Chelsea, but warned his players they "don't have a chance" if there is a repeat of their performance against Newcastle.

Newcastle wrapped up the season with an impressive 3-0 home victory over a dejected Chelsea side on Sunday afternoon.

There is a clear intention to increase the all-round quality of player at St. James' Park, with many of these squad members present during the club's Championship-winning season.

Conte antagonized the Portuguese coach after reclaiming the Premier League crown at the first attempt by stating in July that he wanted to avoid "the Mourinho season" in this campaign.

Fifth-placed Chelsea must beat Newcastle and hope Liverpool lose to Brighton and Hove Albion to secure Champions League football, but Conte said failing to finish in the top four was always a risk given the competition in England. Had the Champions League truly been on the line it would have been very hard to take.

"I still have one year left on my contract, so it is different", he said.

"This season until he stayed here he helped me a lot".

Lascelles, appointed as captain by Benitez two years ago, says he would "do anything" to keep the 58-year-old on Tyneside if it was up to him. He would have been happy to see Newcastle end the season on a high following their frustrations throughout the season.

The future of Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez, also with a year remaining on his deal, is also uncertain. I will continue to ensure every penny generated is available to him'.

Chelsea and Man United fight for the last piece of silverware, with both needing it to put a shine on their season.

"I think we must be focused on this season and then it will be the right moment for the people to understand the situation and find the best solution in the best possible way".
