Boko Hamar 'kill dozens' at Nigeria market, mosque

"As I am talking to you now, 24 persons are confirmed dead". The scene has been cordoned-off by the Anti-bomb squad and other security personnel, " Mr Abubakar said.

Dozens of others reportedly were injured in the midday explosions.

In a tweet on its handle, the presidency wrote: "Today's suicide bomb attacks in Mubi, Adamawa State, targeting a Mosque and Market, are tragic & despicable". The prayer was mid-way when the bomber detonated the explosives.

The sale of the aircraft was previously blocked by the Obama administration after the Nigerian air force mistakenly bombed a camp for people displaced by Boko Haram, killing 112.

Now, Buhari has said that he wants to contest in the upcoming national election.

Abdullahi Yerima, the State police commissioner said that the first blast took place at the mosque at about 13:00 (12:00 GMT) and a second bomber detonated a device nearby as worshippers fled.

Confirming the incident, the chairman of Mubi north local government, Alhaji Musa Bello, said the blasts occurred around 1 30 pm.

"For now dead bodies are being evacuated and those injured have been taken to hospitals".
