Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid on Saturday night at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium thrashed Celta Vigo 6-0 in the La Liga.

Cristiano Ronaldo was out with injury, although he is expected to recover in time for the Champions League final, and captain Sergio Ramos was rested.

Marcelo said: "The start of the season was pretty tough, but we then began to gain confidence, score goals and play some good football".

Bale celebrated by dedicating his performance to his third son Axel Charles who was born on Tuesday. It will be hard to pick the team for the final, but I prefer it like that.

The Welshman opened the scoring after just 13 minutes, but it was second after a half hour that will fan the flames ahead of Madrid's Champions League tilt against Liverpool in two weeks time.

On a miserable outing for mid-table Celta, Sergi Gomez put through his own net on 74 minutes, leaving German global Toni Kroos to tuck away Real's sixth goal after 81 minutes. Today was the last game at the Bernabéu and we did all we could to play well and win it.

The rout, in Real's final home game of the season, means they can still catch Atletico Madrid into second place on the final weekend.

Elsewhere, Samu Castillejo scored twice as Villarreal beat relegated Deportivo La Coruna 4-2 to leapfrog Betis into fifth, with Denis Cheryshev also netting a day after being recalled to the preliminary Russian World Cup squad.
