10 kids removed from California home; mother denies abuse

A Fairfield press release described the children as being "rescues from awful living conditions" that were "in squalor and unsafe". As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for the father of the children and served by detectives on Friday, May 11 at 8:30 a.m.at the family home.

Allen is being held on a bail of $5.2 million. The Los Angeles Times reports that officers were concerned about the safety of the children, so they conducted a search of the home. Ina Rogers is denying the charges and says that her home was in such disarray when officers brought her 12-year-old home because she was so distraught.

Police found filthy conditions in the home shared by Rogers and Allen, Hurlbut said.

During the search, officers found nine more children, ranging in age from 4 months to 11 years old, living in squalor and unsafe conditions, police said. The 10 children were taken into protective custody by Solano County Child Welfare services.

Investigators believe nine of the 10 children were abused.

Allen faces torture and child cruelty charges.

Investigators from Child Welfare Services, Solano County District Attorney's Office, Fairfield Police Department's Family Violence Unit allege there has been a long and continuous history of severe physical and emotional abuse of the children.

"Not only do I have 11 children and I'm 30 years old, but I also home-school all of my children, and people don't agree with that lifestyle".

She said: "There's no broken bones, there is no major scars, nothing. But absolutely not. My husband is an unbelievable person".

Rogers claims the mess came from her tearing the house apart to look for her son in March. "My kids get bumped and bruised and scratched because they're kids, but that's it", she told the reporters in front of her house.

The kids didn't require medical consideration once they have been eliminated.

During the tour, the four-bedroom house in Fairfield appeared messy with scuffed walls and animal feces in the bathroom.

Henry later said the District Attorney's Office is in the process of determining whether additional charges will be filed against Rogers and that the decision will be made within the next few days.

Court records do not indicate whether the parents have lawyers.

"I was afraid I could not find him", she told KGO-TV of San Francisco. Allen said she is estranged from her son and that he has kept his family away from the children. One neighbor, Larry Magney, who lives across the street, said Allen and Rogers moved in about a year ago. "I am an awesome mother".
