Following the birth of her baby brother, Princess Charlotte has now become the first British female royal to retain her claim to the throne thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013.

'It was a really special moment, ' says a royal watcher.

Princess Charlotte sure knows how to charm an audience.

The 21-month-old slightly nervous looking youngster was carried up the steps to the private hospital by William, and gave the crowds a small wave.

The pint-sized royal was going to meet her baby brother with her dad, Prince William and older brother George, when she confidently smiled and waved to onlookers. And the new royal baby's arrival is especially significant for his elder sister Princess Charlotte.

After her stylist was spotted leaving the hospital just hours earlier, Kate once again made a glamorous post-birth appearance. Even Prince George and Princess Charlotte dazzled the crowd in their adorable attire - George in his school uniform and Charlotte in a baby-blue dress.

As she got out of the family vehicle, William whispered to her to give the waiting media a wave and she was more than eager to oblige, her face lit up by a sweet little smile.

Adoring fans said that the young princess was "legit the cutest thing ever" and that she could be the next Diana.

The couple then whisked their newest bundle of joy home to Kensington Palace to begin the next chapter of their lives as a family of five.

The mum-of-three went into labour first thing in the morning and Kensington Palace tweeted that she had headed to St Mary's Hospital.
