Dustin Poirier hobbled in on crutches after way-too-many kicks made it tough to bend his right leg.

UFC President Dana White agrees that Dustin Poirier is a serious option for Khabib Nurmagomedov's next opponent.

Despite still being relatively young at 29 years old, Dustin Poirier has been in the UFC for a long time - debuting in 2012, six years ago.

The only down side to all this is that Poirier took a lot of punishment in order to emerge victorious, revealing backstage that he had a suspected broken arm along with a a potential knee injury and damaged eye, so it could be a while before we see him back in the Octagon.

"I'm content with what just happened, as insane and as stupid as that sounds", said Gaethje, the No. 6 lightweight.

Will he get a title shot from this win?

Poirier knew his fight with Justin Gaethje would be like this. "I will be known and remembered as one of the most entertaining fighters that ever did it". I think she does. "I was training, I knew I could be called at short notice". Late in the round, Poirier saw a couple takedown attempts come up empty, and it was Gaethje missing, but thrilling the crowd, with a flip at his foe. And the fight delivered in spades, going back and forth before ending with Poirier hurting Gaethje and attacking him to a stoppage 33 seconds into round four.

"This guy would've died in here if Herb Dean didn't stop it", Poirier said.

"I want to fight for gold, man", Poirier said to MMA Fighting. "I'm not chasing rematches with Conor, rematches with Eddie, rematches with anybody. I smell it. I feel it in the air". In the end it was Poirier who capitalized in the fourth round when he clipped Gaethje and then poured on the pressure, forcing the rubber legged Gaethje across the cage and finally to the canvas for a stoppage. Michelle Waterson opened the main card with a split-decision victory over Cortney Casey in a technical straw weight fight.
