By linking Discord and Xbox accounts, people will be able track their friends' activity while on either platform.

Personally, this is great. Players will then have the ability to choose whether or not to continue playing on different platforms or to join one of their friends from a Discord server instead. Not only that, you have a lot of Play Anywhere games coming out which this would be ideal for.

Xbox and Discord have recently announced a partnership to bring the chat platform to more gamers. Here, you will see a new option for linking your Discord account.

"As an Xbox Insider, starting soon in preview, you will also have the added option to link your Xbox Live account to your Discord account directly from your Xbox One, which will become available to the broader Xbox community soon".

The decision to allow Xbox One owners to link up their Discord and Xbox accounts comes as a result of players' feedback, according to the Xbox Wire post.

Likewise, Discord users on PC and in the mobile apps will see an option "in the coming weeks" to link with their Xbox accounts.

While a number of other game platforms like Steam and Blizzard's already offer Discord integration, Xbox is notably the first console to partner up and allow Discord users to link accounts. Once the accounts are linked, you will be able to share your Xbox Live status to all your friends on Discord, allowing them to see what you are up to even if you aren't at your computer. After you sign in you'll be prompted to enable permission to link the accounts.
