Kolkata Knight Riders outclassed Delhi Daredevils in what was a fine performance by the home side. After that, only Pant (43) and Maxwell (47) were the only two batsmen who scored runs in double digits.

Boult gave Delhi Daredevils a terrific start, bowling a first over maiden to Chris Lynn and then accounting for Narine. The player of the match goes to Nitish Rana.

Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav removed both batsmen in successive overs to finish with three for 32 before off-spinner Narine ran through the tail to finish with three for 18 from three overs.

Asked about his innings the 24-year-old played down his role and said it was a team effort as everyone fulfilled their responsibilities.

Russell ended things for KKR on a high note with his scintillating 41-run kock which came in just 12 deliveries. He smashed six sixes off two overs from Mohammad Shami that cost the seamer 42 runs, and Rana completed his half-century off 30 balls. Put into bat first, despite a slow start, KKR put up a challenging 200/9 in 20 overs.

After Uthappa onslaught, Nitish Rana continued to play big shots going after spinner Nadeem who finished with figures of 1/43 in his 4 overs.

After losing Narine early, Uthappa and Lynn have been playing cautiously and only despatching bad balls to the boundary as Delhi pacers have hardly given them room to free their arms thanks to some tight bowling.

Youngster Rishab Pant along with Glen Maxwell tried to force an improbable comeback and put on a 4th wicket partnership of 62 in 33 balls but to no avail.

With some matches dragging to the last ball and evoking speculations of fixing, many IPL lovers found themselves in quandary.

"It was an important game for us since we had lost the last two".

Incidentally, this was the third straight match where the team that batted first was triumphant unlike the first week where nine of the 10 games were won by teams batting second.

The live match IPL 2018 Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Daredevils will be broadcasted on Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 HD, Star Sports Select 1 and Star Sports Select 1 HD in English Commentary.
