YouTube's mobile app finally gets a dark theme

According to The Verge, a Dark Mode will now also come to the YouTube app for both iOS and Android.

The feature debuted on the YouTube desktop client a year ago.

In a brief post on a YouTube support page, the company detailed how to use dark mode on mobile and where exactly it's available. To access it, you simply head to your account icon, hitting settings, and look for a setting called "Dark theme".

The new Dark Theme for YouTube on iOS is rolling out today and we can confirm it's live in Canada. The dark theme as well accentuates the colours in the app, drawing the true colours of the videos out.

Dark mode has a few advantages.

YouTube recently rolled out a Dark Mode to its website, and frankly, it's hot. The feature was heavily requested for mobile apps after the launch on desktop.

A lot of people who aren't subscribed to a music streaming service like Google Play Music or Spotify like listening and discovering new tracks on YouTube. Have you ever opened the YouTube app in the middle of the night? Fingers crossed it lands on Android sooner rather than later.
