With second Oscar, Falls native Bridges rides off on Kimmel's jet ski

He won the Kawasaki jet ski offered by late night host Jimmy Kimmel, master of ceremonies, in game show-fashion to whoever kept their speech the shortest. He got the unlucky honor of being the last speech of the night, so the ABC broadcast cut out his microphone, though Kimmel did give him a chance to issue his thanks before the broadcast concluded.

It's become standard for awards show acceptance speeches to be a race against the clock, as the award victor tries to rattle out his or her long list of thanks before the orchestra plays them off.

One 2018 Oscar victor went home with more than just a statuette. "Because we all have stories to tell and projects we need financed.".

Numerous winners, including Jordan Peele (winner of best original screenplay for "Get Out"), jokingly mentioned the Jet Ski as they began their speeches.

"Coco" was named as Best Animated Feature Film at the Oscars 2018, and co-director Lee Unkrich dedicated the honour to the people and culture of Mexico, saying "representation matters".

The 47-year-old is also nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her acting performance in the hit film.

"We are the two actors who you keep hearing about but whose names you have trouble pronouncing", Nyong'o quipped.

"I stopped writing this movie about 20 times because I thought it was impossible".

The ceremony was about hope and positivity, as Judd said the next 90 years of the Academy Awards will "empower these limitless possibilities of equality, diversity, inclusivity, intersectionality - that's what this year has promised us".
