What will QB Kirk Cousins' fully guaranteed deal mean for Russell Wilson?

The major difference is that Cousins will be free to go after a new contract in 2021 - from the Vikings or the free agency market - no matter how he plays.

Cousins is expected to sign a three-year deal worth $84 million.

Cousins failed to make the playoffs for a second straight year with the Washington Redskins, who went 7-9. It's unclear what he can offer the Jets under center.

Kirk Cousins is predictably the top priority on Minnesota's offseason shopping list. That amounts to $28 million per year. How many years did Minnesota lock him down for?

They could have chose to bring back Case Keenum as their starter, realizing he had reached folk hero status among many by going from career backup to the NFC title game in his first season in Minnesota.

Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch all started games for the Broncos, the latter pair failing to win in any of their appearances in a miserable first year for head coach Vance Joseph. Enough with veteran quarterbacks starting since it's beginning to get exhausting when other teams that start rookie quarterbacks get that offensive spark since they have everything to prove.

Kirk Cousins' list of possible suitors was narrowed down to the Jets, Vikings and Cardinals on Tuesday.

NFL Media reported Monday that the Vikings put in a call to Drew Brees' agent Monday to express interest in future hall of fame quarterback. In 2016, when Trevor Siemian unexpectedly beat out veteran Mark Sanchez and first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch to win the Broncos' starting quarterback job, Elway almost acquired Keenum in a trade from the Los Angeles Rams but backed off.

Cousins is coming off a 2017-18 campaign in which he threw for 4,093 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while completing 64.3 percent of his passing attempts.

Apparently, that's what happens after a team sees a Hall of Fame quarterback retire, because a similar situation played out in the Mile High City since Peyton Manning also finished his career at the pinnacle, as a Super Bowl champion. So the Jets are working on a contract with ex-Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Cousins, has been one of the NFL's most productive quarterbacks since becoming the Redskins' full-time starter three years ago.

So if Bridgewater were to struggle or if he encountered injury issues once again, there would be confidence that McCown could step in and produce. Full terms of the deal will likely be released closer to when the quarterback actually signs a contract.
