Meanwhile, the NTV broadcaster reported that the Turkish Armed Forces had entered the central districts of Afrin together with the Free Syrian Army.

He made the declaration a day after Turkish forces took control of the strategic town of Jandairis west of Afrin.

The Turkish Army is developing in Afrín and other northern Syrian territories the campaign Operation Olive Branch, which the neighboring Eurasian country undertook to disband the Kurdish militias Popular Protection Units (YPG), which allegedly threaten their border security.

Afrin's center is surrounded.

According to Anadolu Agency correspondents on the ground, Maryamayn and Anab villages, located east of Afrin center, were cleared of YPG/PKK terrorists.

Turkey expects that the US stops deploying Kurdish militants from Manbij to Afrin, Turkish president's spokesman Ibrahim Kalin has announced on March 7, Al Jazeera reports.

Manbij is regarded as a particularly delicate issue as the USA - unlike in Afrin - has a presence there, raising the prospect of a direct clash with Turkey.

On a visit to Ankara last month, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that Turkey and the US had to solve the tensions surrounding Manbij as a "priority".

Turkey sees the YPG as a terror group for its ties to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is listed as a terror group by Turkey, the USA and the European Union.

The PKK has been listed as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, European Union and United States.

Talks between Turkish and the US officials have begun in Washington and several issues would be discussed, including Syria and Turkey's ongoing operation in Afrin, US state department officials said on Thursday.

He remarked that the cross-border operation may start after parliamentary elections in Iraq scheduled for May this year.
