According to the Fresno Bee, anti-Trump activists called off a protest planned for Wednesday, saying a visit to Fresno was unlikely on the president's California tour. While speaking alongside the prototypes for the border walls, Trump said that they needed to be tall so they can keep out those who are like "professional mountain climbers".

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and several Border Patrol officials briefed the president on the ongoing assessment of the prototypes, the White House says, "with a focus on how the features and attributes of each impedes illegal crossings".

While Trump has said that Mexico will pay for the wall, that doesn't appear to be the case.

On Tuesday, Trump introduced a new argument, asserting that "the wall will save hundreds of billions of dollars - many, many times what it will cost". Dianne Feinstein's comment that a federal lawsuit against the state is an attempt to score points with Trump's base.

To help prevent a riot or other violence, local law enforcement has issued a temporary ban of poles, boards and other items for the area near the border wall prototypes.

Newsom's name has been thrown around as a possible Democratic contender for the 2020 presidential election, but he told KQED earlier this month that he's not running.

"They're the best friend of the criminal", Trump said. The first is an "Unwelcome Rally" at Santa Monica Airport, where Trump's helicopter is expected to land sometime around 3 PM.

Construction of the eight wall prototypes in the San Diego area were completed in October of past year. California officials have defiantly refused to help federal agents detain and deport immigrants in the US illegally, and the Justice Department sued the state last week over three of its immigration laws. I think it's something that - it doesn't have to do with the wall. The event was organized in part by the ACLU of San Diego and Imperial Counties.

After viewing the wall prototypes in an area of the border heavily cordoned off and far from the rallies on the US side, Trump was then expected to address Marines in San Diego before attending a high-dollar fundraiser in Los Angeles, where he'll stay overnight.

Trump is scheduled to attend a Republican National Committee fundraiser in the Beverly Hills or Bel Air area Tuesday night. "In 2019, we want to give you your largest pay raise in over a decade", Trump promised.

So far, United States taxpayers have been the only ones footing the bill for initial designs and construction of four prototypes near California's southern border with Mexico, which the president was set to visit Tuesday afternoon.

There are eight border wall designs.

This visit to California comes just one week after the Trump administration chose to sue the state of California over immigration laws, as reported by the New York Times.

"While California may not have - he may not have won that state, there is certainly a lot of support for this president, not just there but across the country, " she said.
