This is, however, a ideal time to remind you that the Steam version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed includes a positively wild collection of bonus characters on Steam, including a three-man team of TF2 drivers.

You can also look forward to a new series of Sonic Mania Adventures animated shorts.

After some Sega fans posted screenshots and trailer about the new collection, Sega made an official announcement that Sega Genesis collection will release this Spring of 2018. The episodes will be dialogue-free, relying only on music (by Mania's Tee Lopes) and visuals to tell the story.

During the Sonic themed SXSW 2018 panel held earlier today, SEGA have announced that Sonic Mania Plus is now in development and is projected to be released this summer. Sharing the same font and stylisation as 1997's SEGA Saturn Sonic R logo, the teaser features bits of a auto and the sound of a revving engine. The game, set for a Summer 2018 release, will boast a DLC pack's worth of new content, which includes a four-player competition mode and a new Encore Mode that will provide a new way to play the game.

Sonic Mania is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

The fact that the obscured word in the teaser logo is clearly "racing", makes this a no-brainer. "No further details were given on the possible Sonic Racing game, only that it has appeared on the Sonic Twitter account labeled as "[TOP SECRET]". Also the game cover is a Genesis/Mega Drive reversible one.

Unfortunately, not much else was revealed about the upcoming title. The last Sonic Racing game, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, released back in 2012 and saw Sonic and a host of other Sega characters including Alex Kidd and Gilius Thunderhead.
