The Chile worldwide joined the Red Devils as part of a swap deal that saw fellow attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan head the opposite way, lured to Old Trafford by the offer of reported wages in excess of £500,000 a week.

Sanchez was the talisman of the Gunners side, though like Robin van Persie before him made the switch from north London to Manchester. No Chilean has ever played here.

"Alexis is a great player, but we didn't used to get on out on the pitch", Rojo told Argentine TV channel TyC Sports.

The Chilean, who arrived in a swap deal with Arsenal in January, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way, has found the net just once in 10 appearances for the Red Devils.

"He was very fond of me and he didn't want to let me go", Sanchez told Chilean television, per the Mirror.

"You know, easy life, and the fans not upset and no critics, that's not good. That's not good, because if you want to make a real top team with top mentality they need to grow up". Arsene understood it at last, we ended up on good terms, he congratulated me and there was no problem, ' Sanchez added.

However, the 29-year-old also revealed that he is still getting over the heartbreak of Chile's failure to reach this year's World Cup in Russian Federation.

Despite signing big-money players such as Nemanja Matic and Lukaku, as well as obtaining Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, United's season has been fairly disappointing; they crashed out of the Champions League last-16 to Sevilla and now sit 16 points adrift of Premier League leaders Manchester City.

"I still haven't got over it".

'When this World Cup finishes, I think I'll be a bit calmer. I wanted to be alone with my dogs, no-one else'.
