A 16-year-old Pennsylvania girl and a 45-year-old man were found Mexico on Saturday, March 17, after the pair allegedly ran off together nearly two weeks ago, authorities said.

After his arrest, US Homeland Security Investigations agents and the US Marshals Service escorted Esterly to Miami.

Police say Yu was found in good health and is believed to have went to Mexico willingly. Esterly, a married man with four children who is charged with felony interfering with custody, remains in custody in Miami, Struss said, noting extradition is pending.

Even though the pair disappeared together on March 5, Esterly's wife Stacey's attorney, John Waldron, says Amy and Kevin had been in a relationship for some time, which the two families had tried to stop.

March 15: Amber Alert Mexico issues a public bulletin that Esterly and Yu may be traveling in Mexico, and that Yu "may be a victim of crime".

Yu's mother reported her daughter missing on March 5, reported The Morning Call.

According to officials, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Saturday authorities located Amy Yu and Kevin Esterly in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico. An Amber alert and an worldwide search ensued, and the pair returned to the United States under vastly different circumstances on Saturday.

Esterly's wife Stacey had earlier pleaded for the teen and Kevin Esterly to return home from Mexico. They were involved in a secret relationship, officials previously said. It was believed Amy boarded her school bus that morning, but police said they later found out she never got on her bus. "She wants Amy home with her mom, that is what she has always wanted".

"Amy's been known to the family for like eight years", John Waldron, an attorney representing Kevin Esterly's wife, Stacey Esterly, reportedly told the news station.

The case has made headlines in the Lehigh Valley and beyond.

"It seemed odd the way she was leaning up against him and how he was rubbing her leg and it seemed like his hand was quivering a little bit", Castrovinci said.

As details about the relationship trickled out, there were fights over phones that contained a troubling electronic trail.

Both were smiling as they were taken into custody - Kevin in handcuffs, Amy in a vehicle. The Morning Call reports Esterly and Yu flew to Mexico with money allegedly stolen from both their families.

Esterly's wife also said $4,000 along with his personal documents were missing after the pair disappeared.
