Adapting a beloved book for the big screen can be a Sisyphean task unto itself, but trying to bring the fantastical world of Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time to life was full of unforeseen challenges and exhilarating experiences for its stars.

Stopping by Thursday night's The Late Show, the actress admitted that she had no idea what to expect in the first few weeks of motherhood because she "was not a kid person at all" until she had her own. "Thank you for being here, because you've got A Wrinkle in Time, you've got the new show on NBC, Champions, and you've got the baby, Katherine", the host said, recognizing that raising a 2-month-old infant as a single mom must be "a lot of work". It's amusing because I didn't know when you have a baby that you're gonna be up every three hours. I'm thinking of you.

"I don't think I would have been a good mother for baby children, because I need you to talk to me, and I need you to tell me what's wrong", she said.

"She's often like, 'Who dat?' to me because I've been a little busy promoting this movie..." Apparently Stephen sent the Champions actress "very nice" and "very old-fashioned" baby clothes for her 2-month-old daughter, Katherine, from his home town in SC, which didn't hold a candle to her A Wrinkle in Time costar's custom bookshelf. "You're like a weird pervert'".
