Gabriel Okechukwu ready to fight for Super Eagles FIFA World Cup slot

Super Eagles Captain John Obi Mikel Tuesday joined his Tiajin Teda teammates to mark World Day of Happiness. "As it is now, it is not likely that he would make the trip", revealed team administrator, Dayo Enebi.

The 30 year-old defender who recently moved to Sivasspor in the Turkish league told journalist after landing at the Super Eagles camp in Wroclaw ahead of the global friendly against Poland.

He will be missing the match alongside Oluwafemi Ajayi who could not secure his visa to Poland from his base in Egypt.

According to a statement on Tuesday in Abuja by the Communications Department of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Nigeria-based goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa and South Africa-based Daniel Akpeyi are expected on Wednesday.

The pre-World Cup friendly match between Nigeria and the Polish national team, who are ranked 8th in the recently released FIFA Ranking, will kick off at 8:45pm Nigerian time.

After Tuesday's game with Serbia in London, the three-time African champions will play a send-forth match against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Nigeria, before flying back to London for a prestige clash with England's Three Lions at Wembley on June 2. There are strong indications however that both players will be available when Super Eagles take on Serbia in London March 27.
