A former Playboy model who claims she had an affair with Donald Trump is suing to be released from a contract that prevents her from talking publicly about the alleged relationship.

The woman, Karen McDougal, filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Los Angeles against the company that owns supermarket tabloid National Enquirer.

In taking her case to the court system, McDougal joins adult actress Daniels, who filed a lawsuit against Trump earlier this month to let her out of a nondisclosure agreement that paid her $130,000 but she says was invalid because Trump never signed it.

McDougal claims in the docs that Trump's lawyer, Michael Cohen, was secretly involved with AMI in the effort to pay her off and shut her up. because the head of the company, David Pecker, is friends with Trump and he had just secured the Republican nomination.

That is the same year that pornographic actor Stephanie Clifford, whose stage name is Stormy Daniels, says she began her own affair with Trump, when he was already married to Melania.

Karen McDougal believes she was part of a "catch and kill" practice when she negotiated terms of her agreement with A.M.I.in 2016. "Ms. McDougal received $150,000 (nearly half of which went to the lawyer, who she did not realize was colluding with the other side) and a false promise to jumpstart her career as a health and fitness model", McDougal says in her lawsuit.

McDougal says her affair with Trump started to become public after another former Playboy model, Carrie Stevens, spilled the beans about McDougal's relationship with Trump on May 7, 2016, in a series of public comments on Twitter. Word of her alleged affair first surfaced in the press in November 2016 and she spoke out about it last month.

Today US news organisations reported that Daniels passed a lie detector test on her relationship with Trump.

"A quarter million dollar company posing as a media organization systemically intimidated and silenced Karen McDougal in order to achieve its political and financial ends, and she will no longer be quiet", her new lawyer, Peter Stris, said in a statement. Additionally, she claims the lawyer representing her at the time, Keith Davidson, collaborated with Cohen and AMI to mislead her about the contract.

"Thus, the suggestion that AMI "silenced" her is completely without merit".

McDougal's lawsuit follows a similar legal fight from Daniels, whose highly anticipated interview on 60 Minutes about her supposed affair with the president will air this weekend. She writes that they "talked for a couple hours-then, it was "ON!' We got naked + had sex", She later claims Trump offered her money".
