The Cupertino-based company on Friday sent out invitations to an education-focused press event that'll take place on March 27 at a high school in Chicago. It has, of course, put on events at different points of the year but this most recent one was a slight curve ball. That's the second time in a decade it limited product announcements to a single showcasing. But instead of hosting at its brand-new campus, or at any venue in the Bay Area as it tends to do, the forthcoming event will be held at Lane Tech College Prep High School in Chicago, Illinois.

We won't have to wait until June for Apple's next big media event.

Apple has hosted hardware events during springtime before, and there are a number of rumored devices that could come out of this event.

Over the next year, Apple plans to offer more than 6,000 sessions across Europe as part of its Today at Apple programme, unveiled at its September event. Apple's last education event took place all the way back in 2012 in New York City.

Business Insider speculated that Apple will announce a new Apple Pencil and a new iPad because the invitation's cover "is drawn in a calligraphic style".
