There were more than enough doubters and critics in television land ready to say that it had only been two years since wrapping Season 15 of "American Idol", including a grateful send-off from then-President Barack Obama. The show definitely helped to launch the new drama Deception, which ranked No.1 in its 10 p.m. time slot in 18-49 (1.3) beating the premiere of Timeless on NBC by 63 percent in the demographic.

Idol alumni Jordan Segundo shares his favorites and memorable auditions along with an opportunity for you to win a trip to Vegas.

Performing in front of Lionel Richie, meant Julica was performing in front of one of her idols.

Maddie Poppe, 19, Clarksville, Iowa sings with "The Rainbow Connection", and she has a great voice.

Layla, a 16-year-old high school student from Marion County, KY, performed "Who's Lovin' You" by the Jackson Five.

Richie also said their key to success is being themselves and going to bat for the contestants they truly believe have a future in the industry. I've been a fan of American Idol since season one and I'm ready! Each judge recommended that she stay committed to the Great White Way rather than a recording contract. I'd say that was a B- audition, but the judges send her onto Hollywood. She called this a "pinch me" kind of moment that ended with three "yes" votes and that shiny golden ticket to Hollywood.

Up next is Brandon Diaz, who is auditioning in honor of his father, a singer who immigrated to America from Cuba.

Who do you think had the best audition of the night? He does not get the golden ticket - at first. Luke Bryan dubbed Zach as "Harry Potter", and Harry Potter never got Katy Perry swooning. She sings "Young, Dumb, and Broke", as well and it sounds great as a country vibe. Katy tells her she's not a pop star. We've also introduced you to 26-year-old Dennis Lorenzo from West Philadelphia. "I've got two children that they put me with".

Of course, Luke Bryan is excited about this kid right off the bat, who doesn't miss a beat even when Katy Perry comes out to dance with him. I'm confused, but I like his so I look forward to seeing him in Hollywood.
