Why The Latest Snapchat Update Has The Internet Going TF Off

Snapchat Lenses, the masks and backdrops that appear when you press on a face while in camera mode, were made popular back in 2015.

As part of the redesign, Snapchat has added a few other changes.

It's weird. And if you hate change, you will hate the new Snapchat.

"Our business really came together towards the end of previous year", said Snapchat CEO, Evan Spiegel. Rather the company has been attracting criticism from the users. But users are not happy with the redesign.

Even Kylie Jenner, known as the Snapchatting queen, said she has mixed emotions about the update. But now the new update is different, users have to swipe right on the camera section to have access to their friends and family stories.

The Friends panel is also now ordered based on an algorithm that works out who you like to chat with the most.

Chats and Stories from your friends can be viewed by swiping left, while Stories from "publishers, creators and the community" can be viewed on Discover by swiping to the right.

Discover used to be arranged in a horizontal pattern, but now it's a full-screen layout that lets you scroll vertically.

These have been moved to the new Friends page, where they sit alongside regular Snaps and messages.

Snapchat is aware of the complaints as the company spokesperson commented "Updates as big as this one can take a little getting used to, but we hope the community will enjoy it once they settle in".

A similar petition with more than 4,000 signatures laments that the app is "too over complicated" now, with one supporter noting that they're "more likely to win the lottery than be able to get the hang of this shitty update". But the company has so far pushed it out to only 40 million users. CEO Evan Spiegel, Snapchatters visit the app twice as much.

Now, disable Auto-update apps. For example, if you wanted a Custom Lens available for a day in all of New York's Central Park it would cost $1,182. Once you do that, uninstall the newer version of the app. You can also allow installation of apps from unknown sources by going to Settings Security and then toggle on Unknown sources. If you (or someone you know) have an older version of Snapchat running on another device, you can extract the APK (Android application package) file from the /data/app/ folder. Android uses APK files for apps. Android users could also try to download an older version of Snapchat from here as an alternative. Don't sync your iPhone yet. Click the Applications tab, then select Apps in the iTunes sidebar, and find Snapchat (or the app you want reinstall in iTunes' Apps list). Hit the Install button and sync your device.

Or you could just embrace the change.
