As of Wednesday morning, Winter Storm Liam brought freezing rain to states stretching from Texas to Arkansas, and from 1 to 4 inches of snow in parts of IL, southern Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and western Pennsylvania, according to the Weather Channel's latest forecast.

WHAT.Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are expected.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect in many counties across southern Montana and in northeastern Montana where snowfall will not be as severe. The warning was issued from 9 p.m. Thursday through 6 p.m. Friday for Waukesha, Milwaukee, Walworth, Racine, and Kenosha counties. That means no parking is allowed on city streets until noon on February 9. Snow bands can be moderate to heavy at times, significantly reducing visibilities and causing slippery and slick roads.

In Chicago, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said the city was prepared for three more rounds of snow through the weekend after crews dealt with 6 to 7 inches overnight Thursday. Some areas in the higher elevations could see more than a foot of snow. These will serve as appetizers to the main course rolling in between 3:00 and 5:00 AM.

Snowfall warnings are now in effect for the western Alberta areas of Hinton-Grand Cache, Nordegg, Rocky Mountain House-Caroline and Whitecourt-Edson-Fox Creek-Swann Hills.

The storm's first snow blitz hit the Great Lakes and northern High Plains on Friday. On Wednesday in the city, plows worked well into the evening Wednesday just trying to get ahead of the snow that's expected to blanket a wide stretch of Chicagoland.

Snow will linger into Saturday with another inch or two possible through the morning.

Wednesday night will bring snow and much-colder temperatures as the low will be around 17 degrees. Saturday night, a chance of snow.
