The 150 stores, representing about one-fifth of the company's US locations, are expected to close by April.

Massive going-out-of businesses sales are expected to start shortly at over 150 Toys "R" Us stores across the country, including a half-dozen in our state.

Those stores, under both the Toys R Us and Babies R Us brands, were able to stay open by renegotiating their leases.

The toy manufacturer filed for bankruptcy in September, with an industry analyst telling Bloomberg the Chapter 11 resulted from "a buildup of financial problems over the past 15 years". Liquidation sales for those locations begin Wednesday. The starting discounts are up to 30 percent off. These are sales just at the stores that are closing and will not be matched by other Toys R Us stores. Closing locations will continue to honor customer programs including gift cards, Endless Earnings and credit card specials.

The company is closing down 180 stores nationwide after falling behind its competitors, Amazon, Target and Walmart.

USA Today reported that some stores, including those in MA, will be hosting sales as early as Wednesday and last until April 15.
