Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday connected with the people in Bellary district of Karnataka after receiving a rousing reception on his four-day visit to the poll-bound state.

Attacking Congress President Rahul Gandhi over his visits to the temples during the election season, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has termed the visits of the Congress leader as election tourism.

The Congress president launched the party's campaign for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly polls from the Hyderabad-Karnataka region, where his party is considered to be on a strong footing, with a three-day tour, including public meetings and visits to religious centres. "It wants to know what lies ahead". KPCC chief Parameshwar challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to order an investigation into his allegations against Siddaramaiah government. Rahul said the key problems facing the country are lack of jobs and problems faced by farmers, tribals, scheduled castes and the urban poor.

Mocking the PM's speech in Parliament where he held Congress responsible for all the ills of the country, Rahul said, "You are speaking about the past".

"BJP leader Advani said (at the time) it could not be done. He never does what he promises", Rahul Gandhi said. If Bangalore is standing on its own legs today, then it is HAL that has contributed to the city's development.

Targeting the PM on the Rafale aircaft deal, he said, "When Modiji went to France and changed the contract to help his friends, his defence minister was purchasing fish in Goa". Why did you take away the future of its youth from Bangalore? However, BJP in its reply to Rahul Gandhi's allegation has repeatedly said that making all the information regarding the defence deal was not in favour of the national security.

Thousands of party cadres and people from different parts of the state attended the rally. "But he forgets that it was the BJP government led by B S Yeddyurappa that broke the record in corruption", he added.
