By choosing DeFilippo over Stefanski, the Vikings set up the possibility of Stefanski leaving to become Shurmur's offensive coordinator in NY. "We feel John will have good chemistry with our team and are all eager to get to work".

The game of Connect the Dots between the Eagles, Vikings and Giants just turned up in the Giants' favor.

Minnesota, though, is not releasing Stefanski from his coaching contract to pursue the opportunity in NY unless it is able to hire Philadelphia quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo away from the Eagles to replace Shurmur.

DeFilippo was the Eagles' quarterbacks coach for the past two seasons after serving as Cleveland's offensive coordinator in 2015. The duo combined to throw for 3,833 yards and 38 touchdowns in the regular season. Foles earned Super Bowl LII MVP honors vs.

The 2017 Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles have already lost a key member of their coaching staff.

DeFilippo comes to the Vikings at a time when their quarterback picture is muddled with uncertainty. DeFilippo then helped direct Foles to 971 passing yards (13th most all-time in a single National Football League postseason), six touchdowns, only one interception and a 115.7 passer rating in three playoff games.

Philly might put on hold the task of replacing DeFilippo, while they see how offensive coordinator Frank Reich's interview with the Indianapolis Colts plays out.

DeFilippo's one-on-one relationship with Wentz was considered so vital to the former Bison's development that when the New York Jets asked to interview the rising star for their vacant offensive coordinator position in 2017 Jeffrey Lurie and company outright denied their request, and Wentz blossomed into a legitimate MVP candidate as a result. The Eagles time to celebrate is quickly coming to a close as it's nearly time for the Eagles to play the role of defending Super Bowl Champions. It seems Groh would likely be interested in the quarterbacks job. Wentz averaged 9.8 air yards per pass through the first 14 weeks of the season, but the Eagles' offensive philosophy shifted in the playoffs with Foles at the helm. It's even possible that Zimmer and Vikings general manager Rick Spielman brought DeFilippo on board so that hope for Bridgewater can become something more of a reality.

Soon enough, all those questions and more will be answered, and we'll eventually get an up-close look at DeFilippo's philosophy in action.
