The iconic baby food company said Wednesday that it has chosen Lucas Warren, 18 months, as its "spokesbaby".

His mother, Courtney Warren submitted a photo of Lucas sporting a polka-dot bow tie and his winning smile on Instagram during the 2017 photo search.

She said she entered the Gerber Baby contest after hearing about it from a relative. "He may have Down syndrome, but he's always Lucas first", Cortney said.

As the Grand Prize victor, Lucas's family will receive $50,000, and Lucas will be given the coveted title of 2018 Gerber Spokesbaby. Better yet, the victor of this year's photo search is not only precious, he's also the 1st-ever Gerber baby with Down syndrome!

"He's very outgoing and never meets a stranger he doesn't like", Cortney told Today Parents.

Lucas' mom hopes that people see more than his disability.

Mr Warren hopes his son's status as a "spokesbaby" for the company will shed light on the special needs community and lead to more acceptance.

Gerber president and CEO Bill Partyka said Lucas is "the flawless fit". "We want everybody to think, 'Hey, Lucas has Down syndrome, what can I do [to help the cause]?' We hope it snowballs from there". The first child living with the condition to get the post, Warren will appear on the brand's various social media, advertising and marketing channels for the duration of the year. This little guy, Lucas, is beyond adorable and my mama heart is so so thankful.
