Fresh snow warning issued for Derry

Forecasters have warned that the wintry conditions could continue for the rest of the month.

Following a spell of rain, temperatures will fall quickly later on tonight and into the early hours allowing ice to form on untreated pavements, cycle paths and roads.

It says there will be scattered snow showers on Thursday night and into Friday morning.

A yellow weather warning of snow and ice has been issued by the Met Office for Nottinghamshire.

Sunday will be "raw" with more wintry showers on the way, especially in the west of the country.

The Met Office said two to five centimetres of snow may accumulate above 100 metres, with some expected on lower ground too.

"These bands of snow pushing in across Scotland, Northern Ireland, eventually northern England as well as Wales as I said, a risk of snow as well as ice here".

It's umbrellas and warm coats at the ready for the weekend with a rash of wet and windy weather expected to swamp the country.
