ESPN's Mel Kiper Explains Who Patriots Could Pick In 2018 NFL Draft

Mayfield's former teammate, OT Orlando Brown Jr., also made Kiper's first round mock.

"Either Derrius Guice from LSU or Ronald Jones would be two (options), and I gave Guice to the Detroit Lions at No. 20, and that allowed Jones to get down there at 25 (for the Titans)", Kiper said.

Kiper and fellow ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay spoke about why teams would take a running back so high in the draft.

Kiper, who had Hurst going 22nd to the Buffalo Bills in his first mock draft in January, says the Bills' need at center is a big reason why.

In his first mock draft last month, Kiper had Davis projected as the No. 23 overall pick to the L.A. Rams, but dropped the corner out of the first round in his second mock draft, which was released Wednesday. He is willing to take risks, and that often gets him into trouble, but I like a quarterback that is willing to do whatever it takes to win games. "Kind of being a missing link and they don't have that right now".

"I could have put him at No. 6 (to the Jets) and I don't think anybody would have been questioning that".

If the Broncos sign a quarterback in free agency, Kiper said he believes the Broncos will move away from quarterback with their first-round pick to "drafting to help [their] football team". The team could indeed use a lot more stability in the form of a good quarterback assuming that they want to consistently challenge for postseason spots.

He penciled in Alabama cornerback/safety Minkah Fitzpatrick for the Browns at No. 4, but acknowledged they'll have a tough choice if both Barkley and Fitzpatrick are on the board there. He looked like everything you wanted a No. 1 pick to be.

Regardless, it's interesting to see which players the experts think the Eagles might be interested in.

"Los Angeles has decisions to make on free-agent cornerbacks Trumaine Johnson and Nickell Robey-Coleman and safety/corner Lamarcus Joyner, and it isn't likely to keep them all". They need a wide receiver at some point obviously. However, as his collegiate career went on and his supporting cast struggled, Rosen often resorted to trying to do too much, which resulted in some ugly throws and bad turnovers.
