Drake gives SC woman $50000 for her college tuition

Drake then stopped by the University of Miami campus and gave a $50,000 check to Destiny James, a public health student, after he read a scholarship application essay she wrote about growing up in a poor, single-parent household in South Carolina, The State reported.

But the giving spree didn't end there: a day later, he paid for everyone's groceries at a local Sabor Tropical Supermarket, totaling out at about $50,000 in food for the many happy customers who happened to be doing their shopping that day, E! reports. News that, "No one knew he was coming at all, we just came to do groceries".

Images shared by fans on social media show Miami Senior High students singing along as Drake performs "God's Plan" from a crane above the school's baseball field.

After that, he gave $50,000 to Lotus House, a shelter for homeless women, youth and children. When James was applying for scholarships past year, she wrote an essay about her life and the tribulations that she has had to overcome in order to succeed. She received the scholarship but did not expect to get a cash reward from the singer.

"Drake told me that he has read great things about me and appreciates how hard I've worked through so many trials and chose to give me $50K for my tuition", James wrote in an emotional Instagram post.

#Drake was shooting parts for his music video for his new song, "God's Plan", off his two-song EP Scary Hours.

"God's Plan" also dethroned Taylor Swift's song "Look What You Made Me Do" from the top of the music charts.
