AutoExpo2018: Lohia Auto launches electric three-wheeler Comfort E Auto

Given how electric vehicles have suddenly jumped to the forefront, Mahindra has showcased a variety of electric transport options at its stall at the 2018 Auto Expo in New Delhi.

The vehicle comes with a Li-ion 80 mAh battery which can run upto 80 kilometres on a single charge.

Lohia Auto has showcased six electric vehicles at the Auto Expo 2018, which is now being held in Greater Noida.

Unveiling the ConceptFutureS, Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki, said: "Our designers have created this brand new design, aggressive on the outside, and bold and inviting interiors".

The imprint of electric vehicles could be seen at virtually every pavilion at the Auto Expo on Wednesday, but automakers expressed the need of a firm electric vehicle policy to address the issues in adoption of the new technology.

Tata Motors showcased six electric vehicles in mass and personal mobility segments, which includes a 12-metre electric bus and passenger carriers-Magic EV and Iris EV along with Tiago EV, Tigor EV and sportscar Racemo EV, a special Auto Expo edition. The company also introduced two new vehicular architecture platforms for passenger vehicles. Thereafter the media contingent moved with clock-work precision and moved onto Honda Cars India. Mahindra also showcased the e20 NXT concept which has showcased the design and feature list for the next generation e20 electric hatchback.

Electric mobility seems to be the flavour of this year's auto expo with companies including Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata Motors, Toyota, Hyundai, BMW and Mercedes Benz lining up showcases and launches as the country gear towards shift towards eco-friendly vehicles.

Hero Electric also unveiled eight of its global products in India, at the expo and the company said it planned to launch these products in a phased manner.

Apart from various launches and the unveiling of new products by various two-wheeler makers, the first pre-open day of the Auto Expo 2018 saw the official entry of Kawasaki into the Indian market.

Suzuki Motorcycle India unveiled a 125 cc scooter "Burgman Street" along with the introduction of the GSX-S 750 bike at the Expo. The company is expected to launch its first EV in India by 2020.

Another two-wheeler manufacturer Piaggio India launched the scooters "Aprilia SR 125" and unveiled the "Aprilia Storm". The top speed too, has been electronically limited to 200 kmph while naught-100 kmph takes just 3.0 seconds.
