Assault on Karnataka MBA graduate: Five arrested, but Nalapad still at large

According to Vidhwath's friend Praveen Venkatachaliah, Nalapad and his cronies entered the Mallya Hospital emergency ward and threatened Vidhwath and his elder brother Satwik not to file a complaint and roughed up the latter.Hospital sources said the incident was recorded on the CCTV cameras installed on the premises.

"I will make sure that my son does not repeat such things again". Mohammad Nalpad, son of NA Harris, Shanti Nagar MLA, allegedly attacked a youth, Vidyut, at a restaurant. He is also the executive director of the Nalapad Group of Companies.

Sensing trouble, state Congress had expelled Mohammed on Sunday morning who was also the general secretary of youth congress (Bengaluru) for six years. Haris is the son Congress MLA N A Haris.

The accused have been booked under relevant charges of the Indian Penal Code, including for wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation, unlawful assembly, rioting and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace. Police identified the assault victim as Vidwath.

"My friend Vidvat had broken his leg four weeks ago and I had made a decision to take him out for dinner", complainant Praveen Venkatachalaiah told The News Minute.

Currently, Vidvat is recovering at the Mallya Hospital.

In 2016, Mohammed allegedly assaulted a security guard at Bowring institute.

Meanwhile, the BJP and JDS are demanding the immediate arrest of Mohammed as they fear the police is trying to frame Vidwat in the case rather than bring the culprits to book.

Speaking to DH Harris said that, anybody who does such this is wrong, He is not above the law of the land.

Soon after the incident came to light, other such incidents involving Nalapad started being discussed.

CM Siddaramaiah tweeted, "Offenders should be punished to the full extent of law regardless of who they are". He wrote on Twitter, that it is a ghastly incident and police shall take stern actions and arrest all the assailants.

It is said that Nalapad and his friends, who reached the restaurant where Vidwath was having food at around 11.30 pm on Saturday, saw that Vidwath had placed his plastered leg in an angle which looked odd to them. Once the accused are questioned, then the police will decide.
