Then, a day later, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's global working president Pravin Togadia appeared in front of the media to make a startling claim - that a plot was being hatched to kill him in an encounter. "I am being targeted for a decade-old case".

Gehlot was the chief minister of Rajasthan when Togadia was booked under section 188 of IPC for defying police orders in Gangapur town of that state in 2002.

He also alleged that a plan is being hatched to kill him in an encounter. The Hindutva leader was dramatically "found" unconscious in Kotarpur and brought to a private hospital in the evening. "We fear that Togadia might be killed by the police in a fake encounter". "What happened next to that I don't know but after a few hours later, I found myself in another hospital", added the Hindu leader.

The VHP leader, a Z-plus category protectee, went "missing" on January 15 morning after stepping out of the VHP headquarters in Paldi area of the city when a contingent of Rajasthan Police came to arrest him in an old case.

He said Togadia became unconscious as his sugar level had dipped, but was stable now.

VHP party workers alleged that Togadia had been taken away by Rajasthan Police, but situation over his arrest deepened when J K Bhatt, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), while addressing a press conference denied his detention or arrest. Togadia claimed that he has not received any summons or warrants claimed by police in the past. How and why are Rajasthan and Gujarat Police forces following such orders? "While I was offering Pooja yesterday morning, one person entered my office and said that I will be killed in encounter", said a tearful Togadia.

The VHP had claimed that Togadia was detained by the in connection with a case.

After meeting the VHP leader, Modhwadia said that his concerns should be taken seriously and there should be a court inquiry into it. "An attempt is being made to stifle my voice by arresting me in different states".

On being told that it can not be done, Togadia said he chose to take a flight to Jaipur and appear before the court in Gangapur.

Togadia's close aides claimed that such warrants issued against him would increase. Since some time I feel my voice is being gagged.

The VHP chief did, however, allege that the Intelligence Bureau was working against him, and claimed there was a conspiracy to get him tangled in a web of false cases.
