Tulsa County Now Leads the State in Flu Deaths

A Douglas County Health Department report shows that children four years old and younger went to the hospital for flu or flu like symptoms over the past year more than any other age group.

The Cuyahoga County Public Health Collaborative reported the totals Thursday in its influenza report for the week of January 7-13.

Experts say that 288 people had to be hospitalized within the last week due to the flu virus, bringing the total number of hospitalizations to 1,141. According to Jamie Dukes with the State Health Department, the most patients with influenza are reported in the two most populous counties...

The Ohio Department of Health's flu activity summary for the week of December 31 to January 6 showed that flu remained widespread throughout the state. The Ashtabula County Health Department said the person was over 65 years old.

The number of flu outbreaks in long-term care facilities in Douglas County jumped from 14 to 16 overnight.
