But in recent weeks, the House intelligence panel made a request that Bannon testify before the committee.

In response, Bannon released a statement reflecting on his time with the publication which indicated that he was "proud of what the Breitbart team has accomplished in so short a period of time".

Bannon left the White House in August, and he fell out of favor with Trump and the Republican Party after serving as a major source in the Michael Wolff book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.

Burck, a former federal prosecutor, told Big Law Business Jan. 11 that he is only representing Bannon in connection with his role in the 2016 campaign, and not his work in the presidential transition or in the administration.

He quickly presided over the brand of economic populism promoted by Trump and was hired as chief strategist for the White House.

In the book, Bannon said it was "treasonous" of Trump's son Donald Trump Jr.to accept a meeting with a Russian lawyer in June 2016 who he thought would provide damaging information about Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton as part of a Russian government effort to help his father's campaign.

Trump and other White House officials have attacked Bannon and the book, which they have said is riddled with lies.

Trump himself said Wednesday that it "seems unlikely" that he'd give an interview in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into potential coordination between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

Bannon could be an incredibly valuable witness for the special counsel, especially if his testimony matches up with McGahn and Priebus - who took the highly unusual step of keeping contemporaneous notes throughout his six months as chief of staff.

President Donald Trump Trump responded at the time by slamming Bannon in a fiery statement, saying Bannon had "lost his mind". We'll see what happens, but Steve had nothing to do with my win. The Daily Beast first reported on Thursday that he had agreed to the interview.
