Confirmation of Philippe Coutinho's move to Barcelona has intensified suggestions Liverpool will look to Lemar to fill the void left by the Brazil worldwide. "But the month is long and many things could happen", in a subtle shift in the club's previously staunch denials that Lemar could leave.

Lemar was linked to Liverpool and Arsenal in the summer but remained on the French Riviera after former team-mates Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko all left for pastures new.

It is stated that Lemar wants to move to Anfield despite interest from Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea.

According to The Daily Mail, Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing Lemar from Monaco this month.

"Lots of Liverpool and Arsenal supporters have been asking whether Thomas Lemar will be sold in this window", Swanson told Sky Sports News on Monday.

And although Jardim has reiterated his point, he also insinuated that the club would be powerless to knock back a large bid for the 22-year-old. Keen on immediately replacing the departing Chilean forward, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has once again reignited interest in Monaco ace Thomas Lemar.

Speaking to the media this week, Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim refused to rule out a sale this transfer window.

Monaco are still unwilling to sell Lemar, but if he pushes for an exit, their hand may be forced, in which case, they will command a £90 million fee for him.

Coutinho bagging a whopping £142 million from Barcelona has motivated Monaco to sell their stalwart for a maximum price as they feel they can squeeze a good amount from the Lemar deal.
