LG Electronics is to unveil new robots which could soon take the place of workers in several key industries.

Earlier this year LG began testing its new airport robots in Seoul, South Korea in preparation for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in February, and at CES 2018 next week, the South Korean company will be adding three new robots to its robot family.

Under LG's new "CLOi" robot brand, the CLOi serving robot, CLOi porter robot and CLOi shopping cart robot follow in the footsteps of the CLOi airport guide robot and the CLOi airport cleaning robot. Unlike its previous lineup of four distinct robo-helpers introduced at last year's show, the CLOi robot brand is composed of three robots based on a common design built to interact with travelers and customers at premium supermarkets. The robot can deliver food or refreshments around the clock and with its built-in sliding tray, present the tray to the customer for easy removal.

The first robot is called Serving Robot. It can further handle check-in and check-out service and even takes care of payment processes. In addition, the bot knows where all of the supermarket items are located, so locating a product is as easy as pie. The Porter Robot can also handle express check-in and check-out service and take care of payment, allowing busy guests to check out and have their luggage delivered to a waiting auto in a fraction of the time. The Shopping Cart Robot lets customers scan items via a barcode reader on itself for viewing product prices and the entire shopping list on its face. The robot can also guide shoppers to the products they select on a smartphone app.

CLOi is the company's brand that aims at delivering 'both emotional interaction and innovative convenience to customers utilizing AI technology.' ThinQ, on the other hand, is LG's AI brand focusing on 'consumer electronics and home appliances'.
