If you don't know what we're talking about, Instagram has rolled out a new feature that will show your followers/contacts when you were last active on the app or if you're now active.

Facebook-owned Instagram has got a new feature called Show Activity Status which shows when the user is last seen on the app.

Those who can see the activity status will either see you as now active on the app or see the last time that you used Instagram.

Facebook, WhatsApp, and a number of other services show when users are active or when they have been last seen.

It's worth noting that once you turn off your own activity status you won't be able to see anyone else's either, but this seems like a fair trade off to us.

In Messenger also, you can disable this feature if you want to hide your Last Seen on the chat page.

We're always working on ways to make it easier to have fun, real-time conversation with friends on Instagram. Unlike current Instagram Stories, which is based on the images and video, the new feature facilitates text-only, written Stories on the platform. The feature reportedly shows the last time a user was browsing Instagram or had a private conversation open.

Just like WhatsApp and Facebook.

. Tap the toggle switch next to it to disable the feature and BOOM! back to scrolling and trolling in incognito mode. If they are not, you will see when they were last active.

For users anxious about the feature impinging on their privacy, it is possible to deactivate the new feature.

"This has been live on Android for a while but we rolled it out to iOS users in December", an Instagram representative said, according to Business Insider.

The feature appears for those who have the latest version of the app.
