Fired Programmer James Damore Sues Google for Discrimination - Against White Men

The senior engineer who was sacked for writing a memo criticizing Google for pushing diversity has filed a lawsuit, saying the company discriminates against white men and conservatives.

Damore's attorneys filed the lawsuit in California's Santa Clara Superior Court, and implored those whose rights were also reportedly violated by Google to come forward, especially if they were conservative white males.

"Damore, Gudeman, and other class members were ostracized, belittled, and punished for their heterodox political views, and for the added sin of their birth circumstances of being Caucasians and/or males", the 62-page lawsuit reads.

Damore and Gudeman, who was reportedly dismissed from the firm following a confrontation with a Muslim colleague on an internal forum, alleged that the technology giant "employed illegal hiring quotas" to fill positions with its desired percentages of women and ethnic minority candidates, which they claimed discriminates against white male applicants.

Damore was sacked last summer after he wrote a memo criticizing Google for pushing mentoring and diversity programs and for "alienating conservatives".

According to the complaint, this was an open display of "disregard for the law" and discrimination against Caucasians that was "not only allowed at Google, but supported and actively encouraged". Damore also accused Google's senior leadership of silencing conservative views.

There are a series of images, screenshots and conversations from Google employees actively espousing discriminatory rhetoric toward straight white cis-males and Conservatives in an unrepentant fashion. The main source of controversy in the memo was the assertion that women may not be as well-suited to jobs in tech companies because of the demands of the job.

The class-action lawsuit suggests that there may be many other current and former Google employees who similarly suffered. He claimed that women's "neuroticism" and men's "higher drive for status" are among the factors that contribute to gender disparities in tech. Google also allegedly awarded "Peer Bonuses" to employees who disparaged Damore.

The lawsuit is seeking monetary, non-monetary, and punitive remedies. It's not a totally surprising filing given Damore filed a federal labor complaint a year ago and began working with Dhillon during August 2017 on "fact gathering" - looking for other white dudes who felt wronged by Google - for what would eventually become today's complaint.

A representative for Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Conservatives working at Google reported Leftists who were using discriminatory language and making brash and defamatory remarks about Conservatism and Republicans, but Google's human resources department made excuses for the Leftist Liberals, using mental gymnastics to defend the harassment coming from the Left.

Damore's class action suit comes about four months after his firing.
