Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze coming to the Switch

You can read our full review of Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze for the Wii U for more details about the game. We learned today that Nintendo is going to continue this trend of porting old Wii U games over to the Switch, as it announced two more games today during its Direct Mini broadcast.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze served as the follow-up to Wii's Donkey Kong Country Returns, releasing for the console in 2014.

The Switch version of the game will also provide local co-op multiplayer via Joy-Con controls. Finally, we'll get two new costumes for Link and Zelda based out their outfits from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In it, you will take control of Funky Kong, a character that has unique abilities like double jump, spin infinitely, float and swim better than anybody else.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for Nintendo Switch launches on May 4th, 2018. More information on the game will likely be coming soon, so be sure to stay tuned for that.

The new addition for the Switch release comes in the way of the super cool, surfing Funky Kong and a new "chill" mode of play.
