Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann is all set to move to Barcelona at the end of the season, if reports are to be believed.

Spanish daily Sport had reported: "The Atletico Madrid forward has agreed to join Barcelona and will be under (coach) Ernesto Valverde's orders next season".

The Spanish giants have now released a statement on their official website.

"FC Barcelona denies reports that have appeared in recent hours in various media referring to Atletico Madrid player Antoine Griezmann, alleging links to our club", the statement read.

Atletico, who also conceded two late goals at home to lose 2-1 at Sevilla in the Copa del Rey earlier this week, sit eight points behind Barca, who have played a game fewer.

"But if you're asking me if Griezmann is a good player, well obviously he is a good player".

Barcelona are reportedly already considering when to unveil the signing of Griezmann, which is likely to be after this summer's World Cup finals in Russian Federation.

Catalan daily, Mundo Deportivo, also reported back in December that Griezmann's family had lunch with the Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu to smooth the way for the transfer.

Atletico won't be too disappointed to lose their star striker, considering Diego Costa recently re-joined them after a stint at Chelsea.

Barcelona, whose star performers Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta are all in their thirties, signed Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dormund for 105 million euros last summer, but the French 20-year-old has only just returned from a hamstring injury.
