Attorneys to offer free legal help for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The love for Mobile unified hundreds of people for a community-wide cleanup in honor of the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr.

National forests in 2018 offer six fee-free days: Monday (Martin Luther King Day), Feb. 19 (Presidents Day), June 19 (National Get Outdoors Day), Sept. 22 (National Public Lands Day) and November 11 and 12 (Veterans Day). National Historic Site in Atlanta in remembrance of the civil rights icon.

"He's touched so many lives. Great ways for people to get outside and connect with others better", said Betsy Covington, President and CEO of Community Foundation.

Local residents plan to celebrate the holiday with the annual Otero County Martin Luther King Jr.

He said the dramatic presentation is going to cover the six steps that characterize non-violent direct actions and use all the fascinating events in King's life to demonstrate how he stayed so steadfast and true toward his goal.

We spoke with one young woman, Shay Webb, who said Dr. King's dream was alive at this event.

"He showed us how to stand in the face of injustice and evil... with dignity and with grace and with force and not back down and not destroy another person in the process, not be the inflictor of violence himself, but to be a vessel of unconditional love that brought about some of the transformation we've experienced", said King.

The Rise Network and Paine College's Department of Media Studies held its first Martin Luther King Community Recognition Day at the college campus as well Saturday.

Danielle Johnson, program coordinator for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, said this was the third year that the office had taken part in the parade.

After receiving a BFA from the University of Montevallo, McMoy has worked in many theaters in the Southeast, including in Birmingham, Ala., the birthplace of the Civil Rights movement.

Farris Jr. participated in a White House event honoring his uncle on Friday and told CNN that Trump addressed the issue while in the Oval Office with Vice President Mike Pence and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson before the ceremony.

King's words and actions were exported across the world, helping to put death's nail in a global colonial culture that for centuries actively and openly oppressed people because of race and religion.
