There will also be supermoons on January 1, 2018, and January 31, 2018.

NASA has called Sunday night's appearance the first in a "supermoon trilogy," that will take place over the next two months.

Jackie Faherty from the American Museum of Natural History in NY says that moonrise (which happens right around sunset during a full moon) is always a good time to glance up at the sky.
