The Knights enter the January 1 showdown with a 13-0 record, the last win being a 62-55 victory over Memphis to clinch the AAC conference championship.

The game will be played in the new state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz Stadium and home to the NFL's Atlanta Falcons.

The Tigers will kick off the 2018 calendar year by playing UCF in the Peach Bowl on New Year's Day.

He also led Auburn to victories over teams that were No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings at the time, Georgia and Alabama. The Knights' offense leads the nation in scoring (49.4 ppg) and UCF ranks top five in the nation in three additional categories: passing efficiency, total offense and turnover margin. This year, the team is 10-3 with losses to Georgia, Clemson and LSU.

"We're thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase our incredible young men, our football program and our university on the stage that a game like the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl provides". "The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl is well known for being a wonderful experience for teams and fans".

Malzahn echoed those sentiments during his postgame media session, saying that he believes the team will repeat as SEC West Division champion and return to the conference title game one year from now, adding: "I'm happy at Auburn".

"Our program is more stable than it's been in any of the eight years I've been here before", Malzahn told Low.

Before leaving the interview room inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, Gus Malzahn told reporters that he "wouldn't be surprised if we're back in this moment next year". Off the bat, that would give Auburn the conference's second-leading passer and top rusher. The defeat dashed the Tigers' hopes of completing an improbable run to the College Football Playoff. "As I said before this game, we worked extremely hard to get here to this point, and we've got a very good foundation built, and I think the best is yet to come".
