Two dead after shooting at Penn State Beaver

According to our CBS Affiliate in Pittsburgh (KDKA), two people are dead. Authorities are now responding to the shooting.

The campus will be closed until further notice.

The Pennsylvania State Police said the shooting is being investigated as a murder - suicide. Please avoid Student Union Bldg and Food Services area. The victim was reportedly shot near her vehicle.

An officer heard the shots and lots of screaming and responded to the scene. The incident occurred at the Center Township campus, 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

WPXI reported that the coroner was called to the scene. The victim is reportedly female and the suspect is a male.

Police said the woman and her husband were both found dead beside her vehicle near a Penn State Beaver dining hall.

"When he arrived, he found the two individuals deceased", said Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Eric Hermick.

WYTV is monitoring this story for the latest developments. They say an employee's estranged husband shot her, and then himself, near her vehicle.

The school issued an alert right before 4:00 p.m. Wednesday that shots had been fired, but then also said that there is "no threat at this time", and the situation has been contained.
