A New Hope, Luke Skywalker runs into a less-than-welcoming cantina attendant named Dr. Cornelius Evazan, who randomly decides that he doesn't like him and sics his friend Ponda Baba to attack him before Obi-Wan Kenobi intervenes.

Mark Hamill, who played Luke, wrote a tribute to Curtis. Watch his memorable Star Wars scene below. Curtis was also known for his role in The Elephant Man.

Some shared their condolences on Twitter.

The star, 87, died on December 25, 2017 - exactly one year after Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, died aged 60.

"I have the death sentence in 12 systems", the actor tasked to play the most unsafe Mos Eisley Cantina's drunk, Dr Evazan, famously exclaimed.

'As horrific as he was on-camera, off-camera he was amusing, kind & a real gentleman. "Thanks Alf - you'll be missed".

Another wrote: "Out of all the bad guy lines in all the Star Wars movies, "He doesn't like you".

"His "I don't like you either" line was absolute perfection. You had the death sentence on twelve systems but you'll forever live on in our nightmares and our hearts", one person tweeted.

"No one's ever really gone..." The cause of death was not revealed to the public.

While Evazan only made this short appearance in A New Hope, other Star Wars comics and sites expanded on the character's backstory.
