De Bruyne impressed again as City hammered Tottenham 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium to extend their winning Premier League run to 16 matches and stretch their lead at the top of the table to 14 points.

"The performance of Kevin de Bruyne, you can not imagine how good he plays with the ball, but he runs like a player in the Conference league - it is easier for the manager and the club".

"They have really good young players", Guardiola said.

"They know how good Kevin De Bruyne is and when they see how he runs and fights without the ball, that is the best example. He helps us to be a better club, a better institution for the future, that is what we want to do", said Guardiola.

"And overall, without the ball, he is able to make pressure from 40 metres to the goalkeeper".

City took the lead when Ilkay Gundogan headed in from Leroy's Sane's corner before Kevin de Bruyne smashed home the second after the break.

Beyond that he was a constant threat to Tottenham every time he had the ball, torturing Spurs with both his sweeping passes and his direct running at their defence.

"Without the ball we are a humble team". After winning 15 games, (it was) another one. "People have to look at us, how good we are with the ball - but without the ball there is energy". I think it was a player a week or two ago that said, "Wow, I remember last season, we always start 1-0 up at White Hart Lane because something special was happening".

"We have a lot of positive things, because we played a team in very good form with very good momentum".

With their 16th successive league victory, Guardiola's City have now matched the run he oversaw as Barcelona boss - but they are still three short of his personal best, achieved with Bayern Munich. "I am never going to complain if another team celebrate because sometimes it's good, when you lose, and you hear all that happens in another changing room, it's good to feel the pain", he said.

"It wasn't bad at the start [of the game], but the way we conceded from a corner was a big mistake and a massive present for them, when you play a team in very good form, you can not give away these gifts".
