Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone in week six of the season against the Minnesota Vikings and was placed on injured reserve (IR).

"It's been a long road from that day to this, but I'm happy to say I've been medically cleared to return", Rodgers wrote on Instagram.

The Packers can officially remove Rodgers from injured reserve on Friday.

Despite Rodgers' much-anticipated return, Carolina has opened a three-point favorite for this week's game against Green Bay, according to Odds Shark.

"There's a number of scans, testing that went on this morning", McCarthy said. "It's now in the evaluation stage". "But this is a medical decision. But it's a medical decision".

Getting Aaron Rodgers back is a pretty good start if they want to make some more magic happen this year. Through five weeks, he led the National Football League in touchdown passes (13) and had thrown just three interceptions. The Packers were 4-2 in those games.

McCarthy and his coaching staff will begin game-planning for the Panthers on Tuesday and McCarthy would love to know if he will have his starting quarterback available. The two-time NFL MVP could give the Packers the boost they need to reach the postseason for a ninth consecutive campaign. "I'm not going to speak on his behalf, but we sure hope he's ready and if he is, we're going to expect the Aaron of old".
