Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2017 Unveiled

Kaplan confirmed that new holiday-themed skins will be added to the game during the event.

The seasonal map themes have returned to Hanamura and Kings Row again this year, this is along with Black Forest getting a season theme this christmas.

Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan hinted that it's a fan-favorite Hanzo look that showed up in an Overwatch digital comic. After this point we will likely see the release of the upcoming Blizzard World map on the game's live servers, as well as a range of new Overwatch League skins.

It appears that Blizzard has listened and that this skin will be coming to the Winter Wonderland event that drops next week. We're not sure exactly what time the event will begin as of right now, but previous Overwatch events have began early in the afternoon on the East coast of the US.

Finally, a completely new game mode will be Mei's Yeti Hunt - an asymmetrical 1 v 5 boss fight. Mei's Snowball Offensive is moving to 6v6 on The Black Forest, where it has been changed to single elimination mode. In addition to the return of snowball fights and new Brawl called Mei's Yeti Hunt, which a group of Meis against a runaway Winston who needs to be stopped before he gets his super. We'll get to see it in action soon enough, as Overwatch's Winter Wonderland event returns on December 12 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The Meis and, more surprisingly, the Yeti, will all be player-controlled. This means that a squad of six players can queue up for Yeti Hunt and take turns playing as the yeti against their friends. Winston has to collect powerups around the map that award him primal rage and pick off the Mei's that are mercilessly hunting him down.

"I know a lot of you are thinking that this sounds kinda silly and kinda ridiculous", Kaplan said in his video to the Overwatch community.
