Ohio State to play USC in Cotton Bowl

OSU won the Big Ten Championship game against the University of Wisconsin and is now 11-2.

No. 9 Penn State will face No. 12 Washington in the Fiesta Bowl. "To expect, I didn't study it that much", Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said about the playoff. "And they've done that".

In addition to the two traditional powers meeting for the a FBS record-tying eighth time in a bowl game, the Cotton Bowl will feature two of college football's dynamic quarterbacks with Ohio State's J.T. Barrett and USC's Sam Darnold under center.

"We can't wait for what will be a classic Pac-12/Big Ten bowl matchup", USC coach Clay Helton said.

The No. 5 Buckeyes will play No. 8 USC in the Cotton Bowl on December 29 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

This will be Ohio State's second ever appearance in the Cotton Bowl. Ohio State won 28-12 over Texas A&M on January 1, 1987.

Oklahoma and Georgia will meet in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day in Pasadena, the College Football Playoff organization announced Sunday. The two teams last played early in the 2009 season, when the Trojans won 18-15 at Ohio Stadium.

The Trojans ran for 176 yards in the victory.

Darnold has thrown for 3,787 yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions this season.

BIG TEN IN COTTON: This is the fourth year in a row - all since the current CFP system went into place - that a Big Ten team will play in a Cotton Bowl. However, they did not receive a boost over No. 7 Auburn, whose skid from the Top 4 after their SEC title game loss to Georgia stopped just ahead of USC.
